Onomatopeia

The use of words whose sounds express or suggest their meaning.It is a word or words that phonetically imitates, resembles or suggests the source of the sound that it describes.

Example: 

Words that mimic the sounds they denote such as "hiss" or "meow."

The sound of a clock may be "tick tock".
